Buycotting or simply a “BUYcott” is the opposite of a “BOYcott”. As oppose to boycott, it is an active campaign to buy the products or services of a particular company or country. A buycott is supported by consumers who make a conscious effort to buy from companies whose environmental and social policies they support. An example of buycotting is when various organizations around the world supporting Israel set up a buycott on the products and services of Israel to counter several Boycott Israel campaigns. Another example is when supporters of Whole Foods CEO John Mackey’s ideas on health care set up a Buycotts on the company to counter a boycott happened when its CEO opposed U.S. President Barack Obama’s health care reform policies.
