Doritos ad leads on top of the 2009 Super Bowl’s bunch of commercials

Doritos commercial made it to the top rank as the number one ad according to the USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter. This amateur advertisement defeated the pro advertisements.

Dorito is a brand flavored tortilla chips produced since 1996 by the American Food company Frito-Lay (a division of PepsiCo, Inc.). The Dorito Ad was created by brothers Joe and David Herbert of Batesville, Indiana. The ad makers won US 1 miilion in a do-it-yourself commercial contest sponsored by Doritos maker Frito-Lay.

The ad was produced for less than $2,000. In the advertisement, an office worker throws a crystal ball at a vending machine to make his wish of “free Doritos” come true. His nerdy buddy then wishes also for a promotion. But when he pitches the ball over his shoulder it smashes into his boss’s crotch.

The Super Bowl XLIII was played on February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It was a game between the American Football Conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the National Football Conference champion Arizona Cardinals to decide the National Football League (BFL) champion for the 2008 season.
