Karma, universally known as the “theory of cause and effect”, is not a strange term to every grown man on this planet. Karma is a concept applied by many religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. It can also be understood in the theory of “ethic of reciprocity” as a universal rule for almost every great religion on Earth including Christianity, Islam and others. The concept of the effects on what you do, say and think to others is what Karma is all about.

Types of Karma

Karma can be a good karma or a bad karma. These two types of Karma will depend on what you do or what you have caused to other people. Simply, if you have done bad things to others, then you will get bad karma. On the other hand, if you have done good thing to others, then you will earn good karma. Does earning good karma sounds easy? It may sound easy but is hard when you try it to do and make it a habit. What is easier is living a life without really giving much attention on what you do. But this kind of living will just put us near from bad karmas.

Business Karma

Business owners and entrepreneurs should be aware of Karma. They should be vigilant on the universal theory of cause and effect to avoid business karma. We all want to achieve prosperity in life and not life’s tragedy. We all desire to become successful in terms of finance and wealth. But all of this wellness in life must depend on what we are thinking, saying and doing now. Particularly, a restaurant owner who cooks and serves great food for the satisfaction of his customers will earn good business karma in the forms of positive feedback, increase of customers, customers’ loyalty, increased sales and increased profits. But what will happen if he will focus on maximizing profits and ignore customers’ satisfaction? What will happen if he dilute cooking ingredients just to save cost and earned too much income? Customers’ complaints, destruction of your good reputation, and dropped sales and income, where some of bad karmas he will get by doing such negative actions.

Remember that karma is not only caused by people’s action, it also arises from their thoughts and words. This means that what you keep in mind and what you say can still attract good and bad karmas. So to avoid negative karma we must start from avoiding negative thinking and negative words towards other people. Try thinking to deceive your consumers and you will surely become a failure. How it will happen? Logically, if you will consume your time thinking of strategies to deceive people, you will not earn an opportunity to come up with the best solution on achieving your ultimate goals. Why not instead of thinking to maximize profit by deceiving our customers, we start thinking about customer care?

It is understood that majority of business owners become so defensive of their income and they do almost everything to lift it to the highest level even if they already know it will hurt other people. There is this internet marketing company from the Asia Pacific region (mentioning the name isn’t a big deal) that I have just known recently. This company became one of the top internet advertising network having expanded across Asia pacific countries including Australia and the Philippines. But a few days ago, I have known that the Company is facing a controversy. That is they are charging hidden fees on their clients. This practice hurts the Company’s clients and the bad karma?… They drove away a number of existing clients and potential clients who become aware of their negative issue before they have attempted to join the Company’s network.

Conclusion

We’ve been hearing about Karma and even experienced it before. We are aware of it, but that awareness can easily be forgotten by many of us especially those who are in business and entrepreneurship. They are forgetting it because of temptations that we always face in our daily business lives. These temptations include our humans’ greediness for money, fame, authority and power. But in every thought that we think, every word that we say and every deed that we do – there is always karma for us. Let’s just make sure, that this will be a good karma and not the bad one.
