What is the essence of time?

Look at this clock.
What make it essential?
Are they the numbers around the clock?
Or the hands that work round the clock?

Let’s try to imagine there are no numbers in that clock,
and all that left are its moving hands.
Could you still determine the time?
I think you can.

Now let’s take away those running hands,
and let the numbers remain in the clock.
Could you still recognize the time?
I believe you can’t.

So what make this clock a clock?
Are they the numbers or the moving hands?
Based on what we have previously discussed,
we can say that the answer lies on the moving hands.

But what makes the hands move?
Let’s try to open the back of the clock,
There we can find a battery.
That is the force and energy of the clock.

Hence, this clock without its hands, is nothing,
Those hands without running is wasting
And running without energy is daydreaming
