It is every webmaster’s dream to position their websites at the top of the world’s biggest search engine results page, like in Google, Yahoo and Bing. That’s why they will try to do everything from content writing, to link building, to even engaging in expensive online promotion system just to obtain that goal. When it comes to website development (in terms of traffic, ranking and popularity), most experts say that content is king, while others are claiming that it is instead SEO. This debate has already become trendy in many articles and blog posts from around the web. I even said in one of my article that content is king who is living in a marketing castle. In my opinion, content and Search Engine Optimization should not compete with each other. Why? It’s because they are part of each other. Content writing is part of SEO and SEO can be applied through content writing. Furthermore, SEO can also be applied through link building or online promotion. But among content, link building and online promotion, I still consider content as still and will still be… the king. The main reason? It is in our contents that our websites become genuinely marketable and constantly useful.
When it comes to search engine positioning, information becomes the main key to success. Information may be in the form of texts, images, audios and videos. But although a picture can tell a thousand words, a podcast can talk a thousand principles and a video can show a thousand scenes – texts, words, sentences and paragraphs are still my favorite content. Obviously, it’s because article writing is my most comfortable skill. Moreover, the usual search engines love texts. Do you wonder why Twitter becomes a very successful place on the Internet even without exchanging and showcasing so much images, audios and videos? It is because of the very convenient communication system using 140 text characters. Texts also edge the other kinds of contents because of its light weight. Images, audios and videos are all heavier files than texts. Large files cause a particular website to run inefficiently. You can put a thousand words in a single page of your site and still make your page uploads quickly. While a single page with just a hundred videos can give you trouble in uploading that page.
Articles can fill your site with rich contents while preserving the speed of your pages. Hence, it is safe to write and write and write good and original articles. As I have said earlier, search engines love information. Articles are good provider of information. That’s why in optimizing your site in the giant search engines, you should produce more articles. So far, in this blog, I have written about a 135 articles. These 135 articles give an average of 380 page views daily. By doing some averaging, we can tell that each of those articles is viewed 3 times a day. With this equation, if I am able to produce a thousand articles, I can gain a total of 3,000 page views per day.
To achieve the traffic that we are dreaming of for our websites, we must write articles that are loved by search engines. Thus, our articles should RUN. What do I mean by this? It means that an article, to be liked by search engines, should be Rich, Unique and Natural (RUN). Rich articles are meaningful articles. These are the ones that really help its readers. Some of them are helping people in a timeless period. The second is a unique article. Search engines love exclusive articles (those that are not published elsewhere). Duplicate contents will hurt your site because the mighty search engines like Google will detest them. Lastly, the articles you write should be natural. Writing what it should be will preserve its usefulness, its purpose and its smoothness. Articles that are created mainly to promote several keywords may result in contents rejected by major search engines. Moreover, a keyword-dressed article may only become beneficial to its promoter, but not become helpful to its users and readers. Consequently, these users may not value your articles and will leave them useless.
And now it has been told. If you have some talents in writing articles, then you should write, write, write and write. And make sure that you will write articles that RUN – articles that are rich, unique and natural.

Nice math above Vic. This post push me to check my Google Analytics. One of my sites contains 760 pages that includes 300 pictures in the gallery. The average daily hits is 2000 at 2.6 pageviews per day from an average of 260 unique visitors per day. The stats is very low but very inspiring because I did not do any promotion except of putting some buttons from free directories. And I will say that you are correct by saying that SEO and content are part of each other for more than 50% of my traffic came from search engine. I did not do any special thing about SEO, even meta tags are not implemented to the site.
Your math is fairly accurate, at least to my site, not sure though for sites with special SEO efforts like link building and PPC to drive traffic. A more interesting fact is that traffic from search engine converts more than direct traffic and referring sites. After reading this post, my plan is to do the numbers. More quality pages = more visitors from search engines = more money.

I'm glad you have visited. You are right, content enriching is an ultimate key to SEO success. If this is done together with proper promotion and link building (submitting to directories, article submission to article directories, commenting, etc), this assures anyone's success in attracting traffic, visitors, clients and profit.
Wow your site, gets a lot of hits than mine. That's great. 90% of my traffic come from search engines. Also, some of my articles, are placed in the top position in Google for specific keywords – they are the ones who give me most of the traffic. If you notice, I already reached alexa rank of 230,000. This is becuase I also create contents that are useful for global audience. This pulls traffic from US, UK and India. If you only get traffic solely in the your country and not globally, you may not be able to get a high alexa rank. I also observe (if I am not mistaken), that the sites that mostly get the first page in the search engines, are those that have higher alexa rank.

I tried many ways to rank higher in Alexa but unfortunately no success. I used their toolbar, I put Alexa widget to my site but I am still in the million rank grrr. Maybe you're right, its hard to get higher in Alexa with audience confined only in our country. But still my rank in our own country is very low. I hope you share something specific on how to get higher in Alexa. I was disapproved by one income generating program because I do not rank well in Alexa, really disappointed.
Hi there, what I did to achieve my ranking in Alexa is to post an article as many as I can (at least 4 times a week – more articles is better). According to alexa, the top 4 countries where my visitors are coming from are (1) USA, (2) Phil, (3) India (4) UK. This means my visitors are distributed globally. Using wordpress also became a big advantage to me. I also use all-in-one-SEO-pack plugin for wordpress.
I have checked your alexa ranking. I found out that more than 50% of your visitors are coming from other (unknown) countries, rather than specific countries like Philippines, USA, etc. That maybe the reason why you have lower ranking. Maybe you need to expand your audience by promoting your site in far places (that have far IP adress) or create contents that will pull traffic from dispersed address.
I also observed that you have less sites linking to your site as reported by alexa. I recommend you should also increase effort in link building. You can do that by commenting on other blogs, submitting articles to directories, adding your links to directories, participating in forums and social sites. One tip……you check a site related to your site that has more links linking to that site in Alexa. Visits those links, and try to make or put a link on them.
