The importance of organizing your business organization

The business management function of organizing usually follows after planning. This involves the assignment of tasks, grouping of these tasks and the allocation of resources and people inside the organization. An organized company is an entity which its elements (people, systems, policies, information, properties, etc.,) are rearranged and placed in order. It is important for a company to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in its business operation. A simple capability to find things in the fastest possible time saves money. Why? Time is gold and gold is money. A minute lost in searching a certain important stuff misplaced in a disorganized work environment, is already a cost convertible in money. If you earn $100 an hour, then a 5 minute wasted time in searching a particular office document will already cost $8.33.
Organizing people in an organization is very crucial to achieve every company’s goal. Big or small, entities should place their people in order. This includes putting them in the right position where they are most efficient, effective, happy, motivated and productive. Being a small organization is not an exemption to ignore organizing its human resources. Small entities are even more advantageous since they are easier to organize than large entities. This is because they only consist of lesser numbers of people, and the fewer the people… the easier to organize. Managers and or small company owners should be taking of this advantage.
Assigning the right responsibility to your employees or subordinates should start by exploring their characteristics, talents, interests and skills. Like forming a basketball team, managers should first determine the height, speed and shooting percentage of their players. Thus, the tallest should be center, the fastest should be the point guard and the shooters should be the forwards. Of course, it is absurd to see a team which the tallest player is the point guard and the shortest is the center player. In the Company sense, each personnel should be discovered starting from their hiring stage. Managers should invest extra time and effort to discover those true colors of their employees and personnel. This to properly place them in the right position.
Although assignment of duties and functions to personnel should be flexible, this doesn’t mean they should always deviate from those assignments. Flexibility is only formulated for emergency cases and not for routine activities. If workers are given variable functions that affect the firmness of their specific works for a long period of time, the result will be a chaos. Let us consider a human body which is composed of a head, eyes, ears, arms and legs. Head is used for thinking, eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, arms for holding, and legs for walking. This shows how a body is a wonderful example of an organization of organs, systems and functionalities. A head used in carrying an object instead of thinking great ideas insinuates disorganization. Likewise, a senior accountant assigned in secretarial tasks shows lack of strategic management.
Organizing small and large businesses are somehow similar. The only main difference is that there are fewer resources, people, tasks and processes that are to be organized in small entities than large entities. But the importance of this organization process shows one major essence – getting the right positioning of people and resources for a better, more efficient and more effective organization.
