Quotes are short words yet precious as gold phrases that change people’s lives for good or even for greatness. They serve as our inspirations, lights, and strengths that help us achieve our goals. In my path to entrepreneurial success, I always bring with me my best business quotes. Some of them were lessons I learned during my business journey. Others are my original quotes which are already in my day to day life since I was young. Regularly, I will share them here for all my guest and readers. I’ll also publish new quotes that I may learn in my future life as an entrepreneur. To start, I give to you my first five business quotes.
1. “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.”
I learned this quote from my geometry class. In business, focus is very important to attain our goals in the quickest possible time. Like a straight line, we should run our business straight to its goal. We should avoid delays and wastes. And even if distractions come in front of us, we should learn how to overcome them. We need to concentrate in what we do. And to purify that concentration, we need to believe in ourselves and cast all our doubts.
2. “As long as you’re right, you must not quit!”
Success can only be achieved by those who are not quitters. Entrepreneurs will always face problems and trials. Some of them are light but most are hard. Those who have courage face the most difficult situations. However they also receive the most precious rewards. This what makes few extraordinary people distinct and unique from the common ordinary people – wise and bold. Most business owners give up and only few succeed. So it’s up to you if you want to belong with extraordinary persons or not.
3. “Success equals Time x Energy x Resistance. Where Energy x Resistance can be simplified as Enthusiasm”
This is my personal fundamental equation of success. For me, time, energy and resistance are the factors in order to achieve success. And to simplify that (like how we simplify our lives), energy and resistance can be equaled to “Enthusiasm”. This only means that we need to choose the things that we really love. Passion gives us energy and sometimes addiction. This level of energy optimizes our lives to success, while the good addiction provides us focus and keeps us away from distractions.
4. “I will therefore I am.”
This quote of mine tries to show the greatest asset of a human – the free will. The freedom to choose can be the best thing we can have in our business. We are not just thinking robots who can’t decide for ourselves. We are human beings, created specially by God to have the power to choose and act what is right and what is wrong. This guides me in deciding what is truly right, even with the outside pressures.
5. “You can only be truly happy by making other people happy”
Selfishness may give us early profits and other benefits. But it is not a good business virtue unlike caring and generosity. If you produce low quality products just to satisfy your own profit and not to provide convenience to your customers, you may generate high revenue at the start. But because of unsatisfied customers who have consumed your poor products, your sales will fall down, and you profit will be replaced by losses. Thus, if we offer high-quality products to our customers, they will surely be pleased and even spread the good news about our products – that is the word of mouth. Moreover, helping people and seeing their smiles inspire us and give us true joy and fulfillment in life.
