online-businessSo you don’t have a job? Probably, because you are a college drop-out who just can’t find an employer who will hire you or a previous employee whom just been fired by your boss. Most of us think that employment is the only risk-free solution for earning money. That’s why when people can’t find a job, they think that it’s already the end of the world. Some people may consider entrepreneurship, but they believe that it will require a certain amount of financial capital which they never can afford. To end those desperate thoughts and open up the truth, I present to you the following ten online business ideas that may become friendly to you and your pocket.

1. Blogging

If you have the talent in writing, then utilize it. Chose your most enthusiastic topic and start to write original and useful articles about it. If you don’t have money yet to buy a domain name and a web host to create a self-hosted blog, you can start to blog using free blog platforms like WordPress.com and Bloggers.com. Don’t worry, once you start earning some decent cash in blogging, you can upgrade your blog into a self-hosted one which you can gain full control. Blogging is exciting since you can have a job for writing your most loved topic. Blogging pull income from Adsense, paid links, affiliate marketing, paid posts, blog space renting, etcetera.

2. Domaining

A domain name is the name you type in the URL address to access a particular website. The domain name of this site is BusinessAccent.com, which I acquire for 10US dollar for its first year of registration in Namecheap. Domain names are like virtual properties (equivalent to real estate) that possess market values depending on the type of the domain name. As a domainer, I acquire domain names for sale and sell them at higher prices. If I buy a 10$ domain name and sell them for 40$, then that’s a 30$ profit I have got. And if I made that kind of sale for 10 domains a month, then that’s a 300$ monthly profit. However, this kind of work requires a lot of brainstorming, from choosing and buying a domain name to selling it to the right buyers and users.

The following articles will further guide you in the domaining system:

3. Website Flipping

Website Flipping is similar to domaining, the only difference is that you sell the domain when it’s already developed. As I said previously, I have bought my domain name for 10$ and because it’s already in its two years of registration, I already paid 20$ for it. Since I have been using the domain in blogging for almost eight months now from the time I pulled it from my domain stock portfolio, it already appraised its value. As of today, it has already been appraised by several appraisers for a four digit (x,xxx) value. If I will sell it now, then I can already earn a favorable profit. Many people in the website pliffing world, buy a lot of domains and developed them for an average of one month period. Then they sell them to buyers at around $300 – $500. Imagine if their only cost for one domain are the domain’s one year registration fee of $10 and one month web hosting fee ($10 – $20) – that’s a lot of bucks!

The following articles will give you additional light in the art of website flipping.

4. Business Process Outsourcing

Because of the Internet’s booming power, you don’t need to visit anymore a client’s office to provide business services. Business process outsourcing is already a billion industry today. If you have the knowledge and skills in business processing (eg., accounting, telemarketing, medical transcription, HR services), then it’s time for you to offer them online. There are lots of effective sites (Guru.com, GetAFreelancer.com IFreelance.com), for freelancers which you can signup and list your services for free.

5. Web Designing

Web designing is an industry that will always become hot as long as websites are hot. There are millions of businesses who want to go online and need a customized website that is tailored to their needs. That’s why, web designers are always in demand for hiring. If you think you have the skills in designing cyber places and offices, then offer now that gift of yours in the online world.

6. SEO Services

A greatly designed website is nothing but a beautiful masterpiece in the middle of darkness if no one is visiting it. To escape from that scenario, business owners hire SEO (search engine optimization) professionals. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Some SEO steps utilize the use of social media sites like Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. If you are an enthusiast of these social media sites, then it will trigger your potential SEO capabilities.

7. Online Selling of merchandise

Selling goods has been one of the best sources of income since the ancient times. Thanks to the Internet technology, now, we don’t need to build a costly physical store where we can display our merchandise for sale. If you got some stuff to sell, what you need to do is to sell them online. You don’t need to own a website to place your stuff. You can sell them in the online marketplaces like Ebay, Amazon, Craiglist, Ubid and Alibaba.

The following articles may help you in selling your stuff online.

8. Online Consultancy

Business, marketing, technology, society, self-improvement and spirituality are some of the subjects that you can try for online consultation services. If you are a laid-off finance or marketing personnel who was undeservingly ousted because of the global economic recession, this is the great alternative you can do – offering your good skills online. However, this work should inspire you to learn and develop more your skills and expertise so you can always offer the best services to your online clients.

9. Online Tutorial

There are millions (perhaps billions) of people who wants to know on something. Some of these people will pay you to teach them something online. Here comes online tutorial. If you have knowledge or an expertise in something, and you believe you can pass on that knowledge to someone who is seeking for it via internet, then you may be the perfect person to do it.

10. Infoprenuer (ebooks)

Infopreneurs are people whose primary business is gathering and selling electronic information. Those pieces of information may come in the form of e-Books, podcasts, videos, PowerPoint presentations and other which may be transmitted electronically. An eBook (short for electronic book) is the electronic version of a printed book you can see and buy in a bookstore. It is usually created in an Adobe’s PDF format. This can be an extension to your online tutorial undertaking. You can write your tutorial in an e-book format and sell them online.

Whether you're starting a business on the side while still employed elsewhere, a student or homemaker looking for extra income, or unemployed and trying to figure out what to do, there are plenty of opportunities for you to start up a side business inexpensively. It's unlikely any of these will make you a living in the first few months, but they all have the potential to grow into full-time businesses. We'll take a look at 10 such opportunities and, most importantly, tell you what to do with the $20! bill shor

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for visiting and becoming the first commentator. It's true, success cannot be done overnight, for any business ideas to become successful, we need to plan strategically. These should also include a great marketing plan.

Don't give domain squatting a sugar-coated name. People who suck up domains to resell them are squatters and they should be called out as the SoB's they are.

Doing so should be treated no different from scalping tickets to sporting games.

  4. viclogic says:

    Hello and welcome!

I am strongly against domain name squatting. That's why I should recommend my readers / domainers to include considering etiquette while brainstorming in searching for a domain. Fairness to all parties should be consider. Trademarks should be respected. We must respect all the rights of people, individual and organizations.

i can relate to number 7- online selling of merchandise. as a toy enthusiast, i have several fellows from provinces who wants my items and i hardly get to ship items because of lack of security. i am hearing this new service from Globe and they call it Gcash Click. it lets both buyer and seller register on their domain to assure security. the system is actually nice and i'd gladly share the source. you can check the site of Gcash Click at http://www.globe.com.ph/gcashclick

  7. I have tried both domaining and website flipping before, domaining went pretty decent back then, but I didn't really made much much profit out of it, but for my first couple of weeks in the online world it was already decent money for me.

Website flipping, well, I developed a few sites back then and the value has multiplied itself a few times but definitely not as big as yours, but still it's money and it is profitable and that is what matters.

I'll try to do that again, but it'll be tougher as each day passes, more people getting connected, more people to deploy their websites on the web which means more competition.

    Hi Kevin,

Their are really many ways to earn online. But each of them indeed need focus. That is also one of my problem, since I was still working as an accounting practitioner, I cannot maximize these online opportunities. But hopefully, I can allot some decent time on them or maybe I can hire and recruit people who will help me.

  13. The first online business idea is a auction/marketplace website where people can sell, trade, or buy gift cards. I will make money from this by charging a small fee once a successfull trade/sale is made.
