What is our greatest asset in life?

Have you ever asked yourself what is the greatest asset in your life? So what came in your mind? Is it your million dollar company, prestigious career, expensive mansion or your luxurious car? How about you nice friends and supportive families, aren’t they? Or how about your intelligence or your health and body, isn’t one of them the greatest asset in your life? All of them are great assets a man could have, but the greatest asset in life is not one of them.

Is your mind already flipping around guessing what the heck I am talking here? Okay, we will start to uncover this mysterious question this time. The greatest asset in our lives is the thing that we humans have but other things on Earth (living or non-living things) don’t have. Sounds spinning again? Here is what you need to do. Think of a quality that we humans have but animals and plants don’t have. This may be mind bubbling, but we need to brainstorm to achieve life’s greatest wisdom. So let’s start revealing that mystery now. Let’s differentiate our selves from other species on Earth by considering the following:

1. Humans have life. Animals and plants have too.

2. Humans can reproduce. And so the animals and plants.

3. Humans can think. Animals use their brains too. Computers can also think.

4. Humans cry. Animals cry out too.

5. Humans make relationships. Relationships also exist on animals.

6. Humans communicate to each other. Obviously, animals can also communicate.

7. Humans know leadership. Animals can lead too.

8. Humans do management. And so the animals know how to manage their lives.

9. Humans show affection. Animals can show affection too.

10. Humans trust. Animals also trust and believe.

Hmmm. So what is it that makes human beings so special and unique from other species in the universe? This thing makes us the dominant creatures on Earth. It is the ability that can make one person a millionaire, an owner of expensive house and cars, a CEO of a multimillion dollar company, a healthy man, a famous icon, an even an immortal creature (if he save his soul). But if use wrongfully, it can also make a person hungry, poor, sick and persecuted in jail or even in hell. So do you have an idea now? I won’t let you guys hanging in the air for so long. Now, let’s compare our answers. I assume you have been guessing this question since you have read the title of this article.

Our greatest asset revealed

Animals live, animals cry and even computers think just like humans. However, only human beings have “free will”. Yes computers can think, but they only decide according to what they are programmed for. Animals live, breath and cry but they don’t really have the freedom of will. They don’t have a real choice. They just exist according to what our Creator has made them. Wondering why after millions of years of existence, animals are still uncivilized? Wonder no more, it is because they don’t really enjoy the freedom of will.

What makes a person successful is his choice to become successful. What makes him a failure is his choice to depart from success. Some people become billionaires because they choose to do the steps and procedures to become billionaires. Other people become poor because they choose to ignore the steps to become rich. Thinking of becoming rich is not exactly choosing to become rich. Choosing your will is doing your will.

 

Using our greatest asset in life

I am an online entrepreneur and a blogger, so how do I utilize my freedom of will? Choose what is right and reject what is wrong. I choose to do the steps of becoming a successful entrepreneur. I choose to become patient and hardworking. I choose my passion. How about you? Are you using your greatest asset in life? Do you choose to plan your future success and choose to do that plan? Or until now, you’re still floating in the air, without a choice of where you are heading to? Make a great choice now!

    Great article. Are you a Philosopher? You almost made me scroll down to find the answer it was way too intriguing, lol. Together with "Free Will" another asset that I value even more than money in biz and in life it is "TIME", you cannot do anything to earn time and we only have 24 hours a day same as everybody else. Only God knows how much time do we have left and none of our actions can improve our balance of Time left, well, maybe a little prayer and IF God wants we may have some more time, but we still do not know how much. I forgot, is this a Philosophic Blog? or Biz? lol.

    I'm glad you have visited. I'm just an aspiring philosopher. Lol. Actually my first blog was a philosophical blog -but it did gone because I don't have yet fund to finance the domain and webhost costs.

    Time and money are actually balancing figures. When you give-up time to work hard... you can earn money. On the other hand, when you give-up money to rest - you can gain enough time.

    I only did some reflections and I can gain some wisdom from that process. I have grown as an accountant, exposes in different business industries, so I have mixed philosophy and business. Business needs wisdom to achieve success.

    That's why my tagline is - Man, mind, marketing, money and MANNERS.

  • Hi Vic, I strongly agree with you that our will is our greatest asset. It is our will that drove human out from the Garden of Eden. Even God chose not to command our will.

    For me personally however, my greatest asset is life. Will is powerless if life will depart or at a point that will almost depart from us. No matter how we choose not to, if life will depart, our will power can't bring it back. Person with near death experience like me will appreciate life more than anything else among the gifts of God.

    Thanks for sharing. Our life is so great. And the greatest ability that God put in our lives is our "freedom of will". I agree that even God do not control our free will. That makes us distinct from other things on Earth.
    Your life is so great...and your spiritual life is even greater.

    And oh! I didn't know you have already experienced a near death scenario. That maybe the reason I see that you have a distinct great personality within you. When you started to embraced the gift of life, it feels like you've passed an old life. You feel as matured as a more than 120 year - old man. :)

    I am glad that I found time to be here, as your post is very timely to me. This question is often being asked when I am applying for a job, and I also ask myself especially in this crucial times.

    Anyway, the freedom to choose a career is a great asset but it takes a lot of guts and patience to build a career. Sometimes, opportunities don't come easily and we just have to choose another path. Actually, it's been two years since I am trying so hard to be financially successful online. So far, the ups are fewer. But still, I know there is still enough space for me. Since I feel that my professional career is healthy these days, I know I should be flexible enough to start another one.

    But then, I think my biggest asset right now are my friends: online and in the real world. They are the ones who continuously believe and have trust in me. And I am glad you're among them.

    Thanks for visiting here. That's right. We, your friends are among your greatest assets right now. You have gain these friends, because you have choose kindness and gentleness. Our freedom of will is not only applied particularly in choosing career, we apply it every time we face decision making - little or big decisions. And choosing such, we should always consider love and kindness - these are greater than career. Our creator will add up success on you. When you choose Him greater than everything...everything good (good career, health, finance, relationships) will add up on you.
