From the four Ps of marketing, to internet marketing and to viral marketing, the marketing continuum promises an exciting and rewarding experience. Marketing is vital to business and to the art and sciences of entrepreneurship. That’s why it is what usually what we have in mind when we think about attracting more customers and generating more sales and profits.

This time, I have stumbled further in the marketing world and have encountered “guerilla marketing”. So what is guerilla marketing? And what in the world are weapons of mass destruction? I have been running BusinessAccent.com since December of 2008. I am a Certified Public Accountant but not a certified professional blogger. With this fact, I admit to that I still have to learn tons of knowledge in blogging to become an effective online entrepreneur. Through the road of my exploration of the world of online entrepreneurship, I have encountered great business blogs and bloggers in my path that give me important lessons that a blogger must learn. What is Viral Marketing?

mallTo clearly define what viral marketing is, we’ll first define the two words composing it – “viral” and “marketing”. Let’s first take a look at the definition of marketing.

Marketing, as defined by the American Marketing Association (AMA), is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. Marketing is a huge subject. If you don’t have a basic knowledge of it, it may take a lot of textbooks and tons of articles to fully understand the subject of marketing. But basically, marketing focuses on the processes. These processes involve researching (creating), promoting (communicating), selling (delivering) and distributing (exchanging) your products and services. The components of a marketing mix include the four Ps (product, promotion, placement and pricing). These four Ps of marketing have been modified further to become more costumer focused. This is what is known as SIVA. SIVA stands for solution (product), information (promotion), value (price) and access (placement). Read more
