A Business Corporate Prayer

We have just completed our team-building activity in our organization. Although it was just for one and a half day event, and I was just able to attend one day of it because of hectic schedules, I enjoyed it heartily and spiritually. After the activity, our firm agreed that we conduct a group prayer every Monday morning. Our firm’s big boss led the prayer on the first Monday as scheduled. We will have it again this coming Monday and oh it’s my turn now to lead the prayer. Since our Big Boss is a business and corporate minded person, I thought of finding or composing a prayer that is related to business. However, there is only one prayer that is on mind – the Lord’s Prayer. To mix this prayer to business, I attempted to modify the prayer to insert some business related terms like business, profit, income and operational success. But in the end, I found myself hanging and wasn’t able to change anything from the prayer. I was staring on the structure of the words and sentences but find it that the prayer was already simple yet complete. And if I modify the prayer, I may destroy its true meaning.
Jesus Christ’s prayer to our Father is universal yet perfect and complete. It is not specific but it is always related. The prayer is about knowing God our Father. It represents surrendering ourselves by wishing God’s will be done. It shows sincere trust to God by asking Him the things we need for the day, whether is a bread or food for our stomachs, for our brains or for our souls. It is also a prayer of forgiveness and recognizing the glory of God. Finally, I decided not to modify the prayer. I must not, for it is already complete and related in everything on us – whether it’s for business, family, career, love and relationship. The following is the Lord’s Prayer to our Almighty Father.
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
