The Super Bowl XLIII was played on February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It was a game between the American Football Conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the National Football Conference champion Arizona Cardinals to decide the National Football League (BFL) champion for the 2008 season. Pittsburgh Steelers won the 2009 Super Bowl by beating the Cardinals with a total score of 27 over 23.
Super Bowl is not only famous for its football game, but also for its commercials aired during the game. The television network who aired the game show was NBC. The number of people who were in attendance at the stadium was pegged at 70,774. For a 30 second air time of commercial, companies like Budweiser, Pepsi Co., Doritos, etc. paid about USD 3,000,000.
Due to global recession and with all the cutbacks resulting from the harsh economic downturn in the United States, ticket prices for the game were reduced. Moreover, the big three automobile makers namely Ford, Chrysler and General Motors decided not to purchase television advertisements following these three companies struggles in 2008 and this early period of 2009.
